After this the main domain can go about it's business but ONLY if the HTTP_HOST is not worldwidetravel.ro

So basically what I did:

1. buy domain.
2. register it as parked domain.
3. make a folder and put content for the parked domain.
4. add the first 3 lines of code into .htaccess
5. if there's some rewrite conditions for the main domain add all the lines

6. replace worldwidetravel with your domain and ro with your domain extension (com or net or whatever)
7. send me an email if you found this useful.
8. a big THANKS for nothing to the server admins <- more than 1.

I can't seem to get around this idea that there must be a way to have
that parked domain behave like a stand-alone domain but within the
same hosting package.

I am asking anyone that can help me on this one, if there's a way.

stuck.

Please help me. I don't want to pay those bastards for something that
should be free because my hosting package is not the cheapest from
their list.

I mean why do I get 2 extra parked domains, 2 data bases and 1 GB of
space but no addon domains?

thanks for your suggestion. I'm limited with only the "Simple DNS Zone Editor " in Cpanel. This is a public server and I don't have access to WHM. I'll put up a screen shot. Are you saying that I should delete the www.worldwidetravel.ro. CNAME worldwidetravel.ro record and make a new one like this: www.worldwidetravel.ro. CNAME /worldwidetravel/ ?

I can't seem to get around this idea that there must be a way to have
that parked domain behave like a stand-alone domain but within the
same hosting package.

I am asking anyone that can help me on this one, if there's a way.

So far, with this kind of rewrite rule I have a redirect loop. I'm
stuck.

Please help me. I don't want to pay those bastards for something that
should be free because my hosting package is not the cheapest from
their list.

I mean why do I get 2 extra parked domains, 2 data bases and 1 GB of

When using SSL, Microsoft IIS will violate the protocol by closing the connection without sending a close_notify indicator. PHP will report this as "SSL: Fatal Protocol Error" when you reach the end of the data. To work around this, the value of error_reporting should be lowered to a level that does not include warnings. PHP 4.3.7 and higher can detect buggy IIS server software when you open the stream using the https:// wrapper and will suppress the warning. When using fsockopen() to create an ssl:// socket, the developer is responsible for detecting and suppressing this warning

I think you're going to need to add a stream wrapper for https since that is not setup by default for PHP. http is, but https is not.

Read up on PHP streams and how to register/unregister stream wrappers. It's pretty simple, but is an excellent learning opportunity for you.

Hello All,

I am trying to use file_get_contents($url) under XAMPP to get the HTML
where $url starts with "https://ssl.companyname" and it says "failed
to open stream". It works when $url starts with "http://
www.domain.com". I read to remove the # in line "#LoadModule
ssl_module modules/mod_ssl.so" in file httpd.conf but it is already
removed. Here are all references to "ssl" in this file:

all I have to do is to find and replace all those $_POST variables with $my_post. pretty neat. or I could try to declare all the $_POST values with $my_post values like $_POST['name']=$my_post['name'] or $_POST=$my_post;

This is completely passive, you should only have to do some minor javascript to run the serialize() function on your form (upon submit), and the serialized value that you send to PHP should be pretty easy to snag.

I've been where you are now... Trying to fix a problem one way when there is another solution that will get you where you want to go. Sounds like you've already spent too much time trying to fix it with the server, what's 20 minutes to stick some javascript in, alter your PHP script slightly and test it?

Have any of you ever reached this problem?
hmm maybe if I use a javascript to post them one by one with different
requests... or save all the post vars into a huge one, then in php
explode them by a limiter.... what do you think?

this form is very long and I have no problem with javascript, jquery or html. this form work's fine. the problem is server-side. it's just too much damn information. the server has a limit somewhere but I don't know where to find and change the maximum post variables. ok, if I try to add another row it won't save it. if I remove one row and write some text in the big textarea that text will be saved.

It's kinda complicated, I don't even want to begin about jquery (even if I wanted to it's still a php group)

so 182 rows * 11 types of variables = 2002; but I only get 1089 variables (99 rows) in total + the title and other small stuff.

I think I need to count the total post vars to be sure..... and then search for that number on the server wherever it might be.

So i'm stuck here.

requests... or save all the post vars into a huge one, then in php
explode them by a limiter.... what do you think?

I agree, JQuery can serialize a form with a function, example var s=myform.serialize(). So you could post that one variable and split it on &.

Can you just change the suhosin setting in php.ini and restart apache? If not you are going to have to rethink how you pass this data.

Hi I use thunderbird on winxp I think it's on imap I'm not sure, but there's a checkbox there in the settings called "leave messages on server" and another one below called "for at most X days" ever tried that or the version for linux doesn't have that?

Ah, I just tend to wipe my laptop every 6 months or so, so I imap and sort it by folders. But yeah I used clawmail a lot with my netbook and it worked good.

I keep a lot of old messages as archive on my local computer - but
don't want them all on the server ... too much clutter AND I don't
want to have my laptop download all the 'in between' messages when I

Are you talking about the number of elements in the form needing to be less than 200 or the number of rows in a textarea needing to be less than 200? Suhosin is a security patch designed to make PHP more secure. I can kinda see where one of these scenarios could be used to exploit your server that is why I am asking.

this is useful for ie6

if you have mod_rewrite and you are on a page with virtual directories, if you don't put a base tag ie6 will look in that virtual directory for the images. ie:

url: http://ex.com/first/second/third/

<img src="/img.jpg" /> -- ie 6 will look in http://ex.com/first/second/third/img.jpg
the rest will look in http://ex.com/img.jpg because there is a leading forward slash "/"

however if you put the base tag ie6 seems to understand that command and obeys the web developer (for once) and looks where you want it to look for the damn image.

this is useful if you want to reduce the html code and write relative links instead of absolute links. This can also be a nice tool to fool the browser that you are serving content from another website even though the url is different:

<base href="http://google.com" />

<img src="/logos/dna.gif" /> try to write this and see your result.

(spoiler)
it should bring the image from google.com because there's a base tag with the google.com link.

I've played with this concept for a long time and I think that there's a use for more occasions than you imagine such as ajax, mod_rewrite, subdomains and more.

That is what I am doing now. Maybe a little more info. I have two apps one for mobile devices and the other for desktop browsers. I have two domains to separate the two and the desktop is a virtual domain one level down in my directory structure. Some of files will be shared between the two sites so I am trying to change the links to pull the files from the same place. So my idea was to create a constant at the beginning of the hit and replace all the common files with the correct URL. I am including the pages now but this syntax is the only way I have been able to change the url on the common files.

i second what robert said, another option i have seen some people using is that they get a $php_self in a variable and then remove the file name of the variable, but storing the name in a var and then including it´s a much better option, specially if youre going to use mod_rewrite

Absolutely there is. Numeric values are not quoted on inserts. Non numeric values are. Always. You might be able to get away with quoting all values being inserted as a safety mechanism, but that might give false insight into your data types for anyone that may work on the data later.

Nope, that's about the way of it. I've seen a lot of applications where, in the bootstrap or config file, certain paths were set into either variables or constants. This file would then be included for every page and the variable/constant would be available to your output through that.

[Pro. PHP Dev.] Adding host info to links

In .net and another VFP framework I used in the past, there was a
syntax, ~/mylink.js that I used to automatically fill in the host info
to complete the link. I am now creating a constant with the correct
info that I am using like this :
<img src="<?php echo APP_HOSTSTRING?>images/rcsWide.jpg" />
Seems a little long winded so I was wondering if there was a better
way.

well int is used for fast searches of numbers as for varchar includes all characters. Now it depends on what you want to do..

if you have integer values you should always use int and index those. EX: ids, dates in unix time format, prices etc.

if you insert this string 'Hello, my birthday is on 01-01-1980' into a INT field type you will only get 01011980 which is 1,011,980 so... yah go nuts, have some experiments.
